Ballerina for my niece

I have to apologize for not keeping up with my blog.  I have been doing this and that and I didn't realize it had been so long since updating it!  I've been taking some online coloring classes at Kit and Clowder, volunteering and other stuff.  I really enjoy my coloring classes and I need to post of of them here.  Today is a project that I made using some of my new copic coloring skills.

I made this ballerina art piece for my niece's birthday.  She has been in dance and ballet so I wanted to make her something to remember her special day.

I only used one paper from Paper Temptress store on this piece but I used both watercoloring technique and regular coloring with copics on it.  I love this paper because it has a wonderful texture to it that is great for copics, watercolors and inks as well as many other mediums that you may want to try.  The awesome paper is called Strathmore Bristol Bright White.

I hope you can see the difference between the watercolor background and the copic coloring of the ballerina.

I took this photo a darker and angled it so that you could see the little gems that I added to this project.

The stamp I used is a digital stamp by AuroraWings called Flower Ballerina.   I LOVE a lot of the digital stamps on this site!  In fact, I really liked that I could make this image as large as I wanted in order for it to be the right size for this project.

Thank you for stopping by!  Hope you have a fun and craft-tastic weekend!

Happy 4th of July Weekend!

I made this card awhile back but I  thought it would be a great one to post this weekend.  I hope that all my American friends have a great 4th of July weekend!

In God We Trust2

I first stamped the flag image onto Heavenly White cardstock . I then water-colored the flag.   After it dried I masked it and then sponged the background.  I stamped the children's parade with Versamark and then embossed with detail black embossing powder.  For the flag decorations below that I also stamped and water-colored them, cut them out and adhered them to the card.  The red and blue background cardstock are from the Patriotic Variety Package.

I hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend no matter where in the world you live.   Thank you for stopping by!

Don't forget to shop the AMAZING SALE going on in the store right now!  30% off of EVERYTHING and some paper lines are 60% off!!  The sale ends when the weekend is over so shop now!  Paper Temptress

Watercolor Rose

I made this card for last week's sketch challenge on StampTV and also a challenge on SCS (Splitcoast Stampers) .

I used Melanie's "A Year Of Flowers" and stamped the rose in Ridinghood Red and I stamped the leaves in Garden Green and embossed both in clear embossing powder. (I stamped them all on watercolor paper) I used my waterbrushes and Peerless Water Colors to watercolor the images. The "thank you" sentiment was from Rupa's "So Grateful". I also popped up the rose and all the leaves on pop-up dots to give them fun dimension. The DP is an old DCWV Spring matstack from several years ago. I embossed the bottom of the card with a cuttlebug border and rubbed a reddish-pink "metallic rub-on" onto the raised part.

I have to admit that I'm quite happy with how the water coloring turned out. The peerless watercolors are sheets of paper with the watercolor on them. I took a ninji waterbrush and touched the tip to the color of my choice. I then colored the rose petals adding more water to lighten the color as I needed and even leaving some areas white. Of course I did the leaves the same way. Here's a picture of what it looks like. Very interesting and cool way to watercolor at a very good price! hhhmmm.... I wonder if I should invest some stock in Gina K Designs? ;-)

I also have this lovely card on my wall right where I can enjoy it... that is until I send it off to a very special person who has probably thought I've forgotten to thank her properly. I am usually soooooooo slow at mailing things. My poor brother and his wife are still waiting for their Christmas card w/gift! *sigh* Whatever are we going to do with me???
