The Kindness You Share...

"The Kindness You Share is a Blessing".  Isn't it true that the kindness that others show us blesses our lives?  We are also blessed when we show kindness to others.  I know that when I've been having a hard time and someone shows me kindness whether it be a meal brought in, prayers offered on mine and my family's behalf or even just a smile... it really lightens my mood.  So many people were so very kind to us when my daughter was so sick and after she passed away.  I am forever thankful to those people who showed us such kindness.  So...  when I saw this Justrite set, Kindness, I knew that I HAD to have it. I will be using this set a lot!

I stamped the frame in light blue and cut it out with Spellbinders dies.  The sentiment, "The Kindness you share is a blessing" is stamped onto a doily that I made out of SU Kraft paper.

As you can see the frame is propped up with pop dots to give it dimension and opens in the center to show the sentiment.  I love how the frame was made to fit perfectly with the Spellbinders.  I almost forgot to mention that I colored the pearls on the frame with my copic marker to match the ribbon.  They are the same pearls that are all around the doily.

I LOVE butterflies so I added one in the right-hand corner.  I added some shiny bling to add motion to the butterfly which I had glued in the center and formed the wings to add dimension.

I added a bow made from hand-dyed seam binding.  One of these days I'm going to try dying my own but for now I have some on hand that I purchased online and at my local scrapbook store.

For this card I used sketch #116 from Cardpatterns:

Quiet Moments

I'm so excited to be able to participate in Joan's challenge this week. We are to use any JustRite stamps.  Here is my entry:

I used JustRite Quiet Moments for the image.  I love this image... it reminds me of my sweet daughter who would sit by me and lay her head on my shoulder.  We would hold hands and talk and talk.  I miss those moments but am so very thankful for the many wonderful memories I hold dear.  I'll be using this image again, that's for sure!

I colored the image with copics and paper pieced the little girl's dress.  The wings are separate stamps which I think it brilliant - that way you can do what I did and use them as 3-D or even eliminate them altogether.  I was very tempted to leave the image as a mother and daughter (humans) and not fairies... but I like how the wings turned out. I embossed the wings with detail white embossing powder on vellum, cut them out and attached them with mini glue dots.  I also popped the flowers up with pop dots.  This project is VERY 3-D!  Love the third dimension!  I cute the image out with Spellbinders and popped it up on Webster's Pages die.

I also added some shinny glitter (I hope you can see it here):

I purchased the Quiet Moments stamp set at Joan's Garden.  Joan is an amazing friend and I love to order from her - and she only charges what it costs her to ship... that's so nice to know, isn't it?  You can search her blog for the items that she sells (for instance if you are looking for a JustRite stamp set click on JustRite in the labels section or you can even type in the name of the stamp set in the search bar)  If you can't find what you want, email Joan and she will most likely be able to find it for you.

Thank you for stopping by.  I appreciate all comments!

Happy Valentine's Day & CHD Awareness Day

Happy Valentine's Day and CHD Awareness Day!

CHD stands for Congenital Heart Defects which my daughter was born with. Just a little fact: 1 in every 100 babies world-wide are born with CHD. Some die before even being diagnosed which is sad because with treatment they could have a great chance at life. My daughter almost died due to late diagnosis. 21 years later I'm still so glad that we got her treatment just in time!

Now on to the Valentine's Day card I made for my hubby. I used the sketch from MojoMonday to make this card. What a great sketch!

I received a shipment from I{heart}Papers and was soooo happy with the masculine paper that I wish I had ordered more! The paper is SEI Moravia. I just might have to place another order! lol The stamp on the front is JustRite Occasions. I used chalks to add a little color to the image but it doesn't show up very well in the photo.

I used Martha Stewart punches, nesties and CM tools to make the layout. The stamp on the inside is Verve's Thankful Hearts. I love that set - so many wonderful sentiments! Back to the paper... look at how it shimmers!

I hope you are having a wonderful Valentine's day and if someone you love is affected by CHD, I'm sending you an extra big (((hug)))!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday to Hubby!

I made the following card for my husband on his birthday last month. He really does a lot for me and our children. I appreciate him so much and I had just the stamps that told him so.

First I used JustRite's Decorative 2" Square Monogram Kit. Then I used the octagon nesties to cut it out. I used Verve's Thankful Hearts to stamp the sentiment inside rectangular opening. I LOVE the paper I used which is Basic Grey Origins. I also used a Spellbinder's Borderabilities - Latice and Stampin' Up's Scalloped Edge Punch to finish off the front of the card.

My husband is my hero and I was so happy to have a stamp that said so.

Love those pop-up dots to add dimension! I also used some distress Ink to make the card have a vintage feel.

I've been so blessed to have a husband who is so wonderful. He works so hard to care for our family. Since I got sick with fibromyalgia he has taken over some of the responsibilities that I used to take care of . I just love him so much for it. In April we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary. I am so much more in love with him now than when we first got married. Through the years we have faced many difficulties that most couples face but the most difficult thing has been watching our daughter go through countless medical and surgical procedures, strokes, lung bleeds, bowel issues, just to name a few. It has been the best and worst 21 years of our lives. (our daughter is 21 yrs old but at the level of a 7 yr old). We have grown so much as a family going through all of this together. It really helps to put things in perspective and know what is really important in life. My family is first in my book. (Crafting is a close second! LOL j/k) I love the Lord and am happy to serve Him by caring for His special daughter. Other things will just have to wait.

Thank you for stopping by. I appreciate your visits!

Sketch Challenge for JustRite Stamp Company

I made this card for a JustRite sketch challenge found here. It was a fun sketch to work with and the prize is fabulous! Here is what is posted on their blog: "One lucky participant in the sketch will win today's release- Witch Way to the Treats, 1 3/16" Stamper, Autumn Blessings,2 1/4" x 3 1/16" Stamper plus the Harmony Rectangular stamper- set of 2 and your choice of two JustRite Fonts- Over $100.00 in prizes. "
There's already 129 contestants so it's not likely that I'll win... but it's always fun to play!

I used Basic Grey Wisteria paper pack and then distressed it a bit... maybe a bit too much in my opinion but I'm still trying to figure out how to use Tim Holtz's ink and distressing tools. I used my new JustRite "Tiny words" set for the sentiment and the swirls behind it. What a cute set! I stamped the flourishes onto the background using a stamp from Stampin Ups!'s "Yummy". It was a set I received free several months ago.

The cut-out is Spellbinder's new Lattice Borderabilities. What a fun set! Of course all the other shapes were done using Spellbinders dies. I hope you enjoy the card! I worked on it through the night inbetween putting my daughter back to bed multiple times. Darn tummy aches.... but now she is sleeping so I'm going to go catch some zzzzZZZZzzzzzZZzzzz's too!

Have a great day!
